What to bring
As you are likely to be lying on the floor to experience a lovely long relaxation/hypnosis session you may like to bring a yoga mat if you have one, a couple of pillows and maybe a light blanket. Anything to help you feel really comfy and cosy so you can relax more easily. We do have a few mats available to borrow.
What is Pregnancy Relaxation Hour?
To begin with we have an informal chat, giving you a chance to meet the other women and exchange news, ask questions, vent - whatever you need - it's better out than in! Then the main feature of the Relaxation Hour is a lovely long soothing relaxation, or hypnosis for pregnancy session. The relaxation has a different focus each week such as sleeping better, trusting your body, releasing anxiety, etc. Our aim is for you to feel more confident and to believe in yourself and your ability to grow and birth your baby. The more often you can attend, the greater the benefit to you and your baby; repetition reinforces and builds on your confidence and positivity.

These sessions are for all pregnant women (birth partners are welcome at our other antenatal classes) at any stage of pregnancy, whether or not you are choosing to give birth at the New Forest Birth Centre. You can come to fill those long gaps between early pregnancy antenatal appointments, to boost your confidence throughout pregnancy, as well as nearer your baby's birth to help reduce anxiety and tiredness. Great after a long day at work. Pregnancy Relaxation Hour lives up to its name!
Please note that the Pregnancy Relaxation Hour is not a substitute for our complete 2-day antenatal course. If you and your birth partner choose to attend our 2-day WOW! Hypnobirthing antenatal course you will be more fully informed, skilled and prepared for a calm and confident labour and birth.

Testimonial from Helen who attended Pregnancy Relaxation Hour regularly throughout most of her pregnancy
"I want to thank you for the time you have given me, personally and via the relaxation group. I am in awe of how you make everyone feel comfortable and able to speak in a room full of strangers, of the time you take to make sure they are comfortable physically and emotionally and of your ability to listen and respond with what is kind yet honest and useful to be heard by that person… not to mention doing it in a room full of people with utterly different perspectives!! Maternity advice is otherwise too full of standard advice and statistics and warnings!
It is wonderful to know that there are people like yourself (and Barbara too) that are prepared to work so hard. To use their talents to help people learn skills for pregnancy (and life!). To be well informed and balanced in the advice offered. To spread the word and offer something beyond the simple choices presented by the NHS. To treat everyone as an individual and give them the confidence to make and be content with their choices and overcome their fears. To simply be welcoming and make pregnancy and birth so positive and exciting and not full of pressures. So different from what is ‘normal’ for the society we seem to live in, leaving us all in a much better mental and physical place for the fourth trimester and family life beyond. You do all of this and so much more and I consider myself lucky to have met you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."
This weekly pregnancy relaxation class is for all pregnant women.
It doesnt' matter where you're planning to have your baby, or how.
It doesn't matter how early in pregnancy you are.
If you're pregnant you're welcome.
